Governance and Accountability

Restore God’s Kingdom is governed by a Board of charity trustees who also serve as directors of our company limited by guarantee. Guided by Gospel values and the Charities Governance Code, the Board safeguards our charitable purpose; oversees strategy, finance, risk and safeguarding; and holds executive leadership accountable. As an Irish registered charity (RCN 20206807) and company limited by guarantee (CRO 767621), we are committed to acting with integrity, managing conflicts responsibly and reporting openly to donors, regulators and the communities we serve.

Governance Rooted in Christian Service

Restore God’s Kingdom understands leadership as a form of service. Our governance is therefore founded upon fidelity to our charitable purpose, responsible stewardship of the resources entrusted to us and respect for every person and community we serve.

Restore God’s Kingdom is governed by its Board of charity trustees, who also fulfil the responsibilities of company directors. The Board acts collectively and in the best interests of the charity. It is responsible for protecting Restore God’s Kingdom’s mission, approving its strategic direction and ensuring that its activities remain consistent with its charitable objects and Christian ethos.

Responsibilities of Our Board

The Board’s principal responsibilities include:

* Safeguarding RGK’s charitable purpose and long-term direction
* Approving strategy, budgets and significant expenditure
* Monitoring financial controls, organisational risk and project performance
* Overseeing safeguarding, fundraising and regulatory compliance
* Identifying and appropriately managing actual, potential or perceived conflicts of interest
* Appointing, supporting and holding executive leadership accountable
* Ensuring that statutory reports and returns are prepared and submitted
* Reviewing whether RGK’s resources are being used effectively for public benefit

The Chief Executive is appointed by the Board and is responsible for the charity’s day-to-day management, within the authority delegated by the Board. This delegation enables effective management but does not remove the charity trustees’ ultimate responsibility for the governance of the organisation.

The Charities Governance Code

Our governance framework is structured around the six principles of the Charities Governance Code:

1. Advancing our charitable purpose
2. Behaving with integrity
3. Leading people
4. Exercising control
5. Working effectively
6. Being accountable and transparent

These principles guide the Board’s decision-making, oversight and periodic review of Restore God’s Kingdom and its governance arrangements. The Charities Regulator confirms that responsibility for implementing these principles rests with the charity trustees.
